For over 50 years, Kohler Academy has excelled at providing a high quality education and excellent therapeutic services to exceptional students with very special needs in a safe and nurturing environment. The Kohler Academy team, our students and their families make up our community of learners whose priority and focus is helping each student reach their full potential as they ultimately transition to life beyond high school.
Kohler Academy is currently providing both onsite and virtual services for our students. During this time, Kohler Academy staff has received extensive training on COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used daily and social distancing and ongoing handwashing protocols are part of our safety plan every day. The health and safety of our staff and students is a priority to all of us.

THE KOHLER ACADEMY
Working with local school districts and parents to develop an IEP driven program that addresses each student’s specific needs, our intentionally small class sizes and collaborative model provides us with an environment where teachers and therapists have the opportunity to work with and cheer on your child every day.
Kohler Academy is a New Jersey approved private nonprofit special education school for children with developmental disabilities. Our campus is conveniently located in Mountainside, NJ.
THE KOHLER
DIFFERENCE
What sets Kohler Academy apart from other schools? At Kohler Academy, our campus reflects the close-knit, collaborative community that we are. You’ll find teachers, therapists, and our administration working together closely to support a collaborative model where each student’s specialized needs are the focus. Our school building is a safe and secure environment where classrooms, therapy spaces, life skills areas and our sensory room provides ample opportunities for not only student learning, but for our students to interact with the world around them in.
Kohler Academy is also fortunate to be a part of The Arc of Union County, providing our staff and our students a wealth of additional resources including After Care, Camp Star, Saturday programs, respite care, Family Support, Workforce Development & Employment Services, Residential Services and Self-Advocacy.

TESTIMONIALS
“We chose Kohler Academy because we liked how it was a small, more specialized school. We knew Jonathan would get the attention he needed here and wouldn’t be overwhelmed like he may be in a bigger school.”
-Jonathon's parents
“The attention to detail of each student is huge. Our administration knows each and every single one of our students and knows about them and doesn’t just know them by name but knows them by face. It’s great to know that staff is so invested in our students.”

“Liam started at Kohler Academy in July. Looking at how far he has come in just these last few months is absolutely amazing. We love everyone on staff and it really does feel like you’re family. Liam is happy and thriving.”
